Here's a fun experiment:
Take a few minutes and walk around your office and without any set up, just ask five people: "If you were to explain who we are to someone outside the organization, what would you say?"
You might be interested to find out what each of them have to say...I know I am.

Interesting that you should pose this experiment. If you look at our church website which is supported by Advanced Ministry you will see that our Pastors are addressing this very question and more.
Gracepoint is tackling some of life's toughest questions from a Biblical perspective. Questions like:
Where did we come from?
Who are we?
What are we here for?
How should we live?
Where are we going?

You're right Chris. That will undoubtedly generate some interesting and useful feedback.
That was actually going to be step #2 of this experiment. I wanted people to start with asking those in their office because they are the ones that are closest to the mission & vision of any given church/ministry-based organization every day.
I think a lot of pastors, board members and ministry leaders would be shocked at the responses they got if they took up this little challenge
That's also where the fix needs to begin. You need to get your staff and leadership group on point and have them reinforcing a unified message before you can even begin to hope to move a bigger constituency like a congregation.
So go ahead and ask your congregation, but start by solidifying the foundation of your brand in-house.

Even better-ask the congregation on a Sunday morning! (Just forwarded this to my pastor)
